Assessing Your Training Needs

One of the main problems experienced by Microsoft Project users is describing their level of current skill and knowledge, and identifying the area of training they wish to pursue.

That’s understandable - Microsoft Project is capable of such varied use that many users aren’t sure where the gaps in their knowledge lie.

Also, at first glance, Microsoft Project can appear so complex that the novice may not quite know where to begin.

To help you, we’ve included a simple Training Needs Analysis document which you can download as a PDF file.

It’s divided into 2 parts.

The first section helps us paint a general picture of the type of Microsoft Project environment in which you operate. For example, how many people have Microsoft Project installed on their computers? How many use it to build projects? Who is self-taught? Who uses it to view progress, but not track actual progress?

The second section is a questionnaire to find out where your current knowledge gaps lie. We ask you about your technical understanding of the concepts and terminology within Microsoft Project. We find these are very helpful; often our clients may discover that Microsoft Project can be used to help manage their projects in ways they hadn’t considered.

How to use this document

1. Download the PDF file
2. We recommend that you circulate the document as a discussion paper within your organisation to help identify where your knowledge gaps lie, and to help pinpoint the areas of training on which emphasis should be placed.
3. Contact us on 1300 363 822 to discuss the results you’ve obtained, and we’ll be able to develop a training program to meet your needs.
